Post-Spannabis Reflections: What Spain’s Biggest Cannabis Event Tells Us About the Future of Cannabis Clubs

Post-Spannabis 2025: What We Learned, and What Comes Next for Cannabis Clubs

With another Spannabis in the books, it’s clear that Europe’s cannabis scene continues to grow in scale, ambition, and innovation—even if Barcelona’s weather didn’t get the memo this year.

Despite the downpour (especially on Day 1), this year’s event didn’t disappoint. Thousands of visitors—club owners, cultivators, medical professionals, tech providers, activists, and the canna-curious—gathered under one very wet roof to share ideas, showcase products, and discuss where our industry is heading.

For us at Cannabis Club Systems (CCS), it was a chance to connect in person with many of our existing clients, as well as meet new clubs just starting out or looking to scale. What we noticed across the board—whether chatting with veteran associations or brand-new collectives—was a growing appetite for three things:

  1. Better member experience
Clubs are no longer just about access—they’re about atmosphere, education, service, and community. More clubs are embracing digital tools to streamline check-ins, personalise strain recommendations, and foster stronger relationships with their members.
  2. Operational efficiency
With clubs juggling more members, more regulation, and more competition, it’s no surprise that tools like CCS are increasingly seen not just as software, but as infrastructure. We spoke with several clubs looking to cut down manual admin, improve stock control, and make smarter decisions using real-time data.
  3. Future-ready tech
AI was a big buzzword at Spannabis this year, and we’re proud to be ahead of the curve with the rollout of SmartBud AI, our intelligent budtender assistant. More than a novelty, it’s a powerful tool designed to improve service, enhance education, and support both members and staff—especially as clubs grow.

Furthermore, we were proud to sponsor, for the eight consecutive year, the Cannabis Champions Cup, one of the most anticipated events of the Spannabis calendar. It was an honour to support such a celebration of excellence, creativity, and passion within the cannabis community, and a strong reminder of just how far cannabis culture has come—and how important collaboration and innovation are to its future.

What was once a grassroots movement has evolved into a highly dynamic space where digital tools, data, and innovation are playing a key role. Spannabis 2025 reminded us just how far cannabis clubs have come—and just how much potential still lies ahead.

As the landscape continues to mature, CCS remains committed to supporting clubs with the tools, insights, and flexibility they need to thrive—not just today, but in the long term.
